I will admit that before I discovered the Breville BOV800XL , I was a huge skeptic when it came to toaster ovens. Maybe it is because my parents never had one when I was growing up, and I therefore didn’t really see them as a necessary or even useful kitchen appliance. It wasn’t until after I discovered the Breville that I really began to see that this appliance is really useful. It does so much more than toast bread – it actually functions as a miniature version of your standard oven. Genius! I am now totally in love with the convection toaster oven and consider it to be one of the best kitchen appliances available.
My apartment is small and my oven old; therefore, cooking a meal can be a real downer. My entire kitchen and living room area gets at least 20 degrees warmer every time I turn on the oven because so much excess heat escapes. This is especially miserable because I live in a very hot climate. When temperatures routinely reach as high as 110 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer, the absolute last thing I want to be doing is cooking dinner in that old oven. So much heat is wasted, and then when I factor in the fact that I have to crank the AC even higher every time the oven is on, I find I am wasting a lot of money. Thus finding out about the Breville oven was literally a lifesaver for me. It can do everything a standard oven does – bake, broil, reheat and roast – yet it uses so much less energy because it is much smaller than the standard oven. It also seals nicely, so very little excess heat escapes. At first I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to cook much in the toaster oven because of its size, but the BOV800XL is actually large enough to fit a pizza pan and a standard 13×9 baking dish. It is even possible to roast a chicken and vegetables. Quite frankly, I’m not sure why I will need to use my conventional oven at all in the future, unless I am roasting a Thanksgiving turkey. I am so in love with this oven because it is the perfect solution to my heat problem. Using the convection toaster oven instead of the standard oven also causes the electric bill to drop dramatically. Score!
Finding the Breville turned me from a skeptic into a believer. While the reduction of excess heat in my house has been one of my favorite benefits, there are many other advantages to owning a convection toaster oven. The reduction many people notice in their electric bill is also a bonus, and makes me a firm believer that this convection toaster is a worthwhile investment.
